Understanding Dismantling Joints
Integrating components like valves into pipeline sections without any longitudinal adjustments can be challenging. Dismantling joints provide the necessary linear variations during the installation or removal of pipe sections or valves.
Dismantling joints are essential for installing or removing valves, pumps, and pipe sections. Key applications include:
- Industrial pipelines
- Pumping stations
- Water treatment plants
- Water meter chambers
- Hydropower plants

Types of Dismantling Joints
Dismantling joints are generally categorized into two types: rigid or thrust and non-rigid or non-thrust, primarily distinguished by the number of anchor bolts used.
The thrust type has more continuous threaded bolts and is capable of withstanding axial forces in a pipeline, unlike the non-thrust type. In the thrust type design, continuous threaded anchor bolts connect all three flanges, doing away with the need for additional screws. Conversely, the non-rigid type requires separate anchor bolts for the sealing flange.
The primary material used for these joints is epoxy powder-coated ductile iron. Pressure ratings range from PN 10 to PN 25, with dimensions up to DN. Custom dimensions or high-pressure ratings such as PN 40 can be provided on request.
Dismantling Joint Versatility
Designed for Flexibility
Dismantling Joints are double flanged fittings that allow up to 100mm (4") longitudinal adjustment. They can be secured at the desired length using the supplied tie bars, which simplifies the maintenance of valves, pumps, or meters, and facilitates future pipe work modifications with minimal downtime.
Simplified Installation
Installation is straightforward, requiring just a spanner and a torque wrench to tighten the high tensile steel or stainless steel tie bars. With fewer tie bars than flange holes, the installation is quick yet provides a secure, rigid, end-load resistant system that matches the pressure rating of the flange.
Comprehensive Range
The range spans from DN40 (1 ½") to DN (80") with nearly any flange drilling or pressure rating available. Custom and larger Dismantling Joints can be designed and constructed upon request.
