Enters Agreement with Federal-Mogul Corporation

CANTON, Ohio, March 22, /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- The Timken Company today announced it will launch a line of industrial seals in May. Timken entered into a licensing and supply agreement with Federal-Mogul Corporation to sell its industrial seal products in the United States and Canada. Terms were not disclosed.

Timken will market and sell National(R) industrial seals under the Timken brand, in Timken packaging. These seals will be available exclusively to authorized Timken industrial distributors and select original equipment manufacturers. The seals are used in a full range of equipment used in thousands of applications such as manufacturing, off-highway, power transmission and oil refineries.

Federal-Mogul will continue to independently market National Oil Seals to its industrial customers outside the United States and Canada. The agreement also does not include sales to the automotive and heavy-duty aftermarket.

"Seals are an important expansion of our industrial friction management solutions," said Michael C. Arnold, president - Industrial Group, The Timken Company. "Timken has always been known for experienced technical support and a solid distribution network. Capitalizing on those strengths while partnering with Federal-Mogul to supply seal products accelerates our ability to better serve customers, deliver unparalleled value, and grow our business."

"With Timken's strengths in the industrial market and the quality of National sealing products from Federal-Mogul, the bottom-line advantage is that the customer can now access premier industrial bearing and seal technologies from a single source," said Joseph Felicelli, executive vice president, Worldwide Aftermarket Operations for Federal-Mogul.

Timken industrial seals include precision oil, grease, fluid sealing and dirt exclusion sealing products in small-bore sizes, zero- to 13-inch. They are backed by a worldwide reputation of product reliability and the development of solutions for unique sealing needs, including:

  • Redi-Seal(R) service -- Made-to-order, custom-fit seals in 24 hours
  • Redi-Sleeve(TM) technology -- Steel wear sleeves that provide the option to repair damaged, grooved or worn shafts, offering a fast repair solution
  • Shaft Repair Kits -- an alternative to shaft replacements
  • Metric and high-temperature coverage
  • V-seals for extreme, high-contaminate environments
  • Redi-Coat(R) -- Patented sealant that fills nicks and scratches in a poorly finished bore.

Timken will also offer tools for seal installation, removal and specification. Redi-Seal, Redi-Sleeve and Redi-Coat are trademarks of the Federal-Mogul Corporation.

Back in 86 a Bodyshop that I know was repairing a Corniche. Over after work beer the owner of the shop asked me
about the trans in the Rolls. The said it wasn't shifting right. Told him that it was a turbo 400 and any of the trans
shops here in town could take care of it.
Roger relayed that info to the owner who went into a rant about how his Rolls did not have a cheap American made
trans.
Owner had trailered the car to the Dealer in Dallas, I'm sure that they used genuine Rolls Royce parts that were
made by GM.
