OLED display for Elektron Mk1 Analog devices (Four, Heat ...
After looking into it a few months ago, there has been demand for replacement screens for a long time for the Machinedrum, Monomachine, and Octatrack MK1 & people doing the mod (they all use the same display type (KS), but possibly different voltage? not sure).:

oohh, that is interesting , i dindnt know elektron had that sort of customization services thanks for info! post a pic of your white display?
A while (5-10 years ago) others were able to get their hands on VFDs (vacuum fluorescent display) that use the same form factor & display protocol (KS). VFD is very similar to OLED in ghosting, contrast, and brightness.

After modding my Machine drum weeks ago today Ive also upgraded my old Monomachine. Its so much more fun to make music with the upgraded devices. Now I can see what Im doing;) For maintenance I replaced also the soldered battery. That was a bigger challenge than replacing the display. Unfortunately, I contacted the manufacturer of these displays late last year and they have unfortunately skyrocketed in price ($350+) since these posts making them cost prohibitive.
For reference, these pre-modified VFDs used to be sold for sale online for a little under $300 here and other places:

Havent you asked Elektron about the defective resistor?
Currently I think most people default to using these KS displays as they are cheapest right now but they all are still just LCD panels with bad viewing angles & ghosting:

Anyways, some info on the demand if youre curious. I imagine designing a niche product like this is a big time commitment. But I think there would be a small market for it.
Opinions & advice Of screen size at a 2.7m viewing ...
Recently completed our extension and Im lucky to have been able to squeeze in a dedicated film room where Ive moved over all my AV gear from the old living room, weve currently got the LG OLED B7 55incher from my eyeballs to the screen is 2.7m , its a very dark room and will only be viewed from directly in front. Usage is predominantly 4k/ Blu-ray film / Netflix and Amazon.
Reading about screen sizes mixed use states 65 is the size to go , film usage would be 75 for more immersion.
I would love to get the LG C9 77 (cant easily find the C8) but its price tag is a lot more than i can budget for.
My wife says 65 would be plenty big enough.
Could you guys/girls advise me on your screen sizes to viewing distances and what you think?
Is 75 overkill at 2.7m?
Do I go for the LG C9 65 and have all the features and amazing PQ Im use to.
Or
Look at the Samsung QLED 75 Q90 (or similar) not have DV etc but have the larger screen thats more in my budget.
Or
Look into the LG Nano cell screens?
Or
Push the wife down the stairs and with the payout get whichever one I want?
Many thanks
Mack
