Modifying fencing in Home Designer is simple. You can achieve this by adjusting the properties located in the Fencing Specification dialog.

Steps to Create and Modify Fencing

1. In the floor plan view, select Build > Fencing > Straight Fencing. Then, click and drag to create a segment of the fence.
2. Using the Select Objects tool, select the newly placed fence, and then click the Open Object edit tool.
3. In the Rail Style panel of the Fencing Specification dialog, ensure the Railing Type is set to Panels. Specify whether you would like Newels/Posts to be present and configure your desired properties for the Top/Bottom Rail.
4. In the Newels/Balusters panel:
• Specify the Height for the Railing and the Newels/Posts.
• Under the Panels section, click on the Library button. In the Select Library Object dialog that appears, browse for an appropriate fencing style, select it, and then click OK to return to the Specification dialog. For example, the Capped Slatted fence style.
• Adjust any additional properties in this panel as desired.
5. In the Materials panel, make the desired material changes to each component of the fence.
6. Make any other desired changes, and then click OK.
7. If you want to place a gate in your fence, access the Library Browser, and navigate to Home Designer Core Catalogs > Architectural > Fences and Railings > Gates. 8. Select an appropriate gate from the selection and click along the fence where you would like the gate to be. Gates are classified as doors.
