Safety in manufacturing is a shared responsibility, especially when using high-speed cutting wheels. Improper usage or use of damaged wheels can result in dangerous incidents, including the disintegration of the wheel, launching sharp projectiles.

Therefore, it is vital to be vigilant about the condition of cutting wheels and adhere to established safety protocols. Here are some crucial safety tips for using cutting wheels across all diameters.

General Cutting Wheel Safety Recommendations

Several best practices apply universally to all types and sizes of cutting wheels. Here are key guidelines:

• Correct Tool Guard Usage: Utilizing the appropriate guard is crucial for safety. Right-angle grinders often come with a Type 27 guard, suitable for grinding wheels. For cutting wheels, a Type 1 guard is necessary, offering the required coverage and protection. Never use the tool without a guard or with an incompatible one.
   
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Essential protective gear includes safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, gloves, flame-resistant garments, leather aprons, and safety boots. Head protection, such as hard hats or welding caps, is also advisable to shield against sparks.
