What is a PG Clamp?

Description of PG Clamps

PG clamps, or Parallel Groove clamps, are essential components used to connect aluminium and ACSR conductors in overhead power lines. They come in various types to serve different purposes, including bimetallic PG clamps, which are used to connect aluminium or ACSR main conductors with copper tap-off conductors. Hiko's PG clamps and bimetallic PG clamps are manufactured from high-strength, corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy (AlMgSi1/Al6082) and use hot-dip galvanized steel bolts and nuts for enhanced durability.

Types of PG Clamps

  • Bimetallic PG Clamps: Used for connecting aluminium or ACSR main conductors with copper tap-off conductors.
  • Bimetallic Cover Tap-Off Clamps: Connects aluminium or ACSR main conductors with copper tap-off conductors. Manufactured from high-strength, corrosion-resistant aluminium alloy and copper alloy.
  • Bimetallic Bow Clamps: Connects aluminium or ACSR conductors with copper conductors. Features a high-strength aluminium alloy body and hot-dip galvanized U-bolt and nuts.

All these clamps are designed to ensure long-term reliability and are essential for maintaining the structural integrity of overhead power lines. They play a critical role in the safe and effective transmission of electrical power.
