Features of the New Liebert AHU
The new Liebert® AHU chilled water unit utilizes water or air-side economizer modes and high-efficiency EC fans, working with hot aisle containment to avoid mixing supply and return air. Its operation at higher return air and chilled water temperatures increases chiller efficiency. Featuring components like Electronically Commutated (EC) fans, Pressure Independent Control Valves, and intelligent controllers with multiple remote temperature sensors, the Liebert AHU ensures optimal airflow, temperature, and humidity for critical IT equipment.
In the newly enhanced model, Vertiv designed the AHU with a fan wall configuration for smoother airflow distribution and higher efficiency in hot aisle containment compared to previous versions. It achieves top-tier fan efficiency up to 0.2W/CMH, has a smaller unit depth, can be modularly installed, and is easy to service.
Advantages and Ease of Deployment
The Vertiv™ Liebert® AHU seamlessly adapts to non-raised floor designs, making installation easier, reducing deployment time, and lowering costs compared to raised floor systems. It cools high-density servers via horizontal air discharge, providing even airflow and uniform temperature distribution within the data hall. The modular installation allows for flexibility in deployment, enabling scalable cooling solutions as demand grows.
The Liebert AHU also accommodates future expansion or redundancy as it can be placed side-by-side with no clearance required between units. CE Certification ensures safety and reliability, and maintenance is simplified as components are accessible from the corridor, eliminating the need to enter the data center hall.
Meeting Modern Data Center Needs
Addressing the rising kW/rack demand and limited data center space, the Liebert AHU offers higher capacity cooling in a compact design, operating efficiently to mitigate rising energy costs. Its adaptability makes it an excellent choice for managers targeting reduced CAPEX while flexibly deploying cooling units. Chee Hoe Ling, vice president of infrastructure solutions at Vertiv™ ASI, states, “Sustainability has become a critical point of discussion among organizations, and data center cooling offers many opportunities to optimize energy use. Vertiv's thermal management systems, including the Liebert AHU, help reduce energy consumption in data centers, making them highly effective for cooling high-density environments.”

How a Liebert Cooling System Works | HVAC FAQ
According to a 2021 Ponemon Institute downtime survey report, IT equipment failure is one of the leading causes of unplanned data center outages. Your business can't afford downtime, making temperature and humidity control in your data center crucial.
A Liebert unit can significantly reduce the risk of outages due to high humidity or overheating, surpassing most other precision cooling systems. It also minimizes the potential for human error in operating your cooling system.
Using Liebert Thermal Management products shields your data centers and IT spaces while reducing utility and operating costs.
What Is a Liebert Unit?
A Liebert Thermal Management Unit, or Liebert Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) unit, is a highly efficient and scalable cooling system. It addresses the unique vulnerabilities of continuously operating IT equipment, which is prone to overheating-related failures. Liebert thermal systems are specifically designed for the mission-critical cooling needs of data centers, telecom environments, testing labs, server closets, and similar applications. They are energy-efficient, innovative, intelligent, self-optimizing, and can be rapidly deployed.
Types of Liebert Cooling Units
There are various types of Liebert cooling units, each with different functionalities and designs. The Liebert Thermal Management product line includes:
- Chilled water (CW) cooling systems
- Refrigerant-based direct expansion (DX) cooling units
- Free-cooling chillers
If you are looking for more details, kindly visit emerson ups 20kva.
- Data center chillers
- In-row systems
- Rack systems
- Evaporative cooling units
- Thermal control and monitoring
Your system choice will depend on your location, the size of your IT center, and your business objectives. Regardless of the system you choose, you will have cutting-edge cooling equipment that protects your critical IT infrastructure while reducing energy costs.
For instance, the Liebert DSE™ Free-cooling Economization 50-250kW is up to 75% more energy-efficient than traditional systems.
What Can a Liebert Cooling Unit Do for Your IT Infrastructure?
These advanced cooling systems efficiently reduce the temperature of closely packed data management devices. Air is directed through narrow passages to absorb thermal energy from IT equipment and funnel it away.
No matter the size and activity level of your data center, we can customize a Liebert cooling system to meet your requirements:
-
Large room cooling
Larger, high-density IT rooms can generate significant heat. Liebert units offer the precision and power needed to cool even the most extensive and busiest data centers.
-
Small room cooling
Liebert units are also effective in optimizing conditions in smaller spaces while allowing control over their operation. We install humidity and temperature controls exactly where needed, even in the tightest spaces.
Liebert Cooling System Features
Liebert cooling units are manufactured by Vertiv Brands (formerly Emerson Network Power). Decades of experience and innovation have established Liebert as a leader in cooling systems designed for data centers and other high-heat environments. Some of their key features include:
- Humidity control for sensitive communications and IT equipment
- Precision cooling for densely packed equipment
- Air economizers
- Liebert iCOM Cooling Unit Controls
- Redundant compressors, blowers, and motors
- The capability to install in various configurations (ceiling mount, floor mount, rack mount)
You can choose and customize your system. Your Liebert air conditioner unit operates on water, air, or refrigerant, depending on your needs and budget. Its motors and fans meet or exceed all the latest ASHRAE standards, and you control how much cooling air flows through your equipment for peak performance.
Liebert Units Are Built for Reliability
Engineering excellence is evident in every Liebert unit. For example:
- They are built using the highest quality components for proven reliability and performance.
- Microprocessor technology provides automated component sequencing, extending service life.
- Units perform self-diagnostics and have an alarm system for rapid troubleshooting, helping to avert issues before they affect the electronic equipment environment.
- Air delivery systems are designed for optimized air distribution and longevity.
Pair Your Liebert Cooling System with a Liebert UPS
Unexpected power loss in your data center or IT environment can have severe consequences. While backup generators are helpful, they may not respond quickly enough to prevent some losses. A Liebert UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) integrates with your cooling system, providing emergency backup power to ensure your IT infrastructure remains operational now and in the future.
